Cookie and Gee's Black Rock Wedding
It was August 31, 2001 in Black Rock City.
As the sun set and the full moon rose, our wedding party walked through the beautiful playa threshold made by Mort and Ginny, and headed towards the Plastic Chapel.
We arrived to find that our wedding party was too large to fit on the stage inside the chapel. So we gathered in a large circle on the lovely, dusty playa in front of the chapel. Inside the circle were Cookie and GDogg-the bride and groom, and Purple Jon and Barbie-the Priest and Priestess.

As the din of nightfall in Black Rock City settled upon us, the ceremony began
with Mort and Ginny smudging and cleansing the circle with sage and Pacific Ocean waters. Tristan, Michael and Kim, Victor and Carrie, Joyce (Cookie's 70 year old mom) and Fred called in the elemental directions. Then the sacred space was traced and created by a volunteer priestess from Goddess camp.
Our Purple Priest read an ancient pagan wedding blessing, and advised that the couple pay little attention the troubles that will come and go, and make love often. Barbie brought forward the rings, held on a magical wand Gdogg had made that day. The very high priestess recited the vows and gave the couple the rings to exchange.
Cookie and GDogg spoke a romantic Shakespearean sonnet together and kissed. The union was made. A celebratory drink and a kiss were passed around the circle to end the ritual. The sacred space was opened and rejoicing ensued.
Immediately following the ceremony, and next to the Chapel another impromtu wedding ceremony took place at the base of the giant golden wedding cake. Many of Cookie and GDoggs married guests and friends were inspired to renew their vows together on the playa that night. So as the full moon rose ever higher and brighter, the group of 6 couples (including Cookie and GDogg) were re-married by a flamboyant and romantically inspired Frenchman.

Once those vows were exchanged, the group headed back to the DOTA camp. Arriving at Mort and Ginny's beautiful threshold, Cookie and the other brides were carried through it and a long night of revelry began. Drinks were refreshed, shoes changed and the group headed out for an unforgettable night on the town in BRC.
To life and love, Cookie
